CLimALp Project is a synergy between Turin and Aosta Universities. The main objective of CLimALp is to document, to safeguard and to study the Germanic (Walser) and the Romance (Occitan and Franco-Proven\u00e7al) varieties spoken as minority languages in Aosta Valley and Piedmont, exploiting the means made available today by IT and corpus linguistics.<\/p>\n

The project aims at expanding the digital platform already used by ArchiWals Project (which collects walser texts and lexicographic works), implementing it with an alike documentation from Occitan and Franco-Proven\u00e7al communities. The obtained corpora will be submitted to a computational-oriented analysis,in order to reach a thorough linguistic and lexicographic description of the varieties involved. In line with UNESCO\u2019s 2003 Convention), the project will contribute to the preservation of the cultural and linguistic heritage and identity of these communities: strongly threatened nowadays by processes of de-population, this heritage risks to be lost in the assimilation to the majority culture and language.<\/p>\n
